Why is it important to be informed and aware of the latest cyber threats and how can sharing those details help to keep everyone more secure?

If you’re a business owner or manager, it may benefit you to increase cyber security awareness across your business or team. If one person can be compromised, everyone may come under threat, so it is important that all staff know what to look for. Some of your staff may be experts, but others will struggle understand the concepts if they have no prior knowledge.

Use examples: people are more likely to remember something if they can relate it to an example. Plus, real world examples help to emphasise the importance of cyber security measures – they are more likely to make the effort if they understand the potential consequences.

Teach the team: cyber security can seem overwhelming, but if you talk to your team as one, they can help each other to remember important details. It also emphasises that it is a team effort – people are less likely to make mistakes if they know everyone is relying on them.

Utilise resources: there are government webpages, independent news sites, graphics, videos, webinars, all sorts of useful resources that can help inform your team.

Seek external help: remember to talk to your IT provider, as they may be able to provide your business with expert advice, training and guidance.
