Why is cyber security training so important?

Learning more about your cyber security could save your business – find out how.
When we recommend that clients undergo cyber security training, we get a familiar response:
“I don’t need training, I’m pretty tech savvy, I know what I’m doing.”
We would argue that no matter how much you think you know, the landscape is always changing. Plus, if even one member of your team makes a mistake, the entire business suffers – training is always worth doing.
Here are some of the reasons why having your staff and colleagues undertaking regular cyber security training is vital:
Reducing human error: incidents often stem from mistakes people make, such as clicking on a malicious link or using a password that can be easily compromised. With training, employees are less likely to make these errors.
Enhancing threat detection: not only will staff be able to avoid causing cyber incidents, but they’ll be able to warn everyone else too.
Compliance with regulations: many industries have strict regulations when it comes to cyber security. If employees are aware of them, they will comply with these policies, avoiding potential fines.
Reducing costs: should a cyber security attack occur, the cost could be significant – the better training staff have, the lower the chance you have of being breached.
Improving incident response: if the worst should happen and an attack gets through, your team will now exactly what to do to mitigate damage and get up and running again.
Encourage accountability: by training people, cyber security becomes their responsibility, as well as that of your IT support, meaning they are more likely to think next time a phishing email comes their way.
Interfuture Security recommends you get training across your business to ensure the best cyber security posture possible. We offer training – if you would like to know more, please contact us HERE.
